yeah a bit. probably would be worth it to buy a frame and replace it yourself or cut your losses and part it out yourself. most guys that buys damaged atv's only want to spend about 2k tops on something like that. most will just part it out. that takes a lot of time and if you run a business paying employees to part it out it takes a lot of hourly wages. no offense but i would have no interest in it at that price. i part out a ton of atv's and i bought a 2008 sportsman 800 with frame damage for $500 earlier last year. hope you get it sold.

Thanks for your feedback...

The way I am approaching this is I am trying to get it out there so I can at least get some feedback on it. I can sit on it a bit until I get my shop re-built, then I can take it apart myself and see what needs to be done, parting it out vs. trying to fix. It is covered up right now, so I can sit on it for a little while. Honestly, it is rather low in my priorities now, as I am still working to get my property back to a somewhat pre-storm shape. Hopefully my shop will be demoed this week, which will allow me to start planning/building for its replacement.

Right now, I would assume no. There appears to be something amiss in either the gear case or clutch. Bike does not roll easily in neutral.

Front are pretty much perfect, as they would be on any ATV with 10 hours. On inspection, rear plastics are in ok shape, with the exception of the back cab, which is pretty is beat up (not torn), but usable. I am going to take off the rear rack tonight to see if the back cab will return fully to its previous shape.

The rear rack is bent and may be the only reason the back CAB has not returned back to its previous shape.

Hi Kinny,

First no disrespect intended at all here, as I was a member that followed
your mishap with the tornado damage post.

I was under the impression you are covered with insurance for
replacement of the atv. With not knowing the details of how your getting
to keep the damaged atv, is there a price that you "need" to get to keep
it and then go forward with a sale?

Just thinking, if it was totaled buy the insurance company then the title
would to be marked as such like Salvaged or Reconstructed I assume.

Another thought is you truly don't know all that is completely wrong with
the atv at this point to to give a good assessment to a future buyer to
get it up & running safely, and thus knowing what all may be involved in
the cost to do so.

For me, I'd pass a "good deal" on to someone with maybe making a few
extra dollars and feel good about myself

Scott,

No disrespect taken...

South Carolina does not title ATVs, so the salvage title is not an issue, not that it makes any difference. I am not at all going to represent this vehicle as anything other than a vehicle that has been severely abused by a very large tree that will need a substantial amount of time and likely money to be 100% again, if it is even possible.

I have been informed by the insurance company that the vehicle is mine to do with what I will. The damage has been documented as well as it can be, so I am at the next step of figuring out what to do with it. Our insurance adjuster has pointed out on multiple occasions that while the insurance is going to pay for dwellings and contents damaged by the storm, there will be many, many costs associated with dealing with the damage as a result of this storm that will not be recouped from insurance. For example, I have about 2 acres that I can not currently let my kids play on due to trees that are still falling and/or limbs being caught up that could fall at any time.

Knowing the total damage to my property vs. what I am being provided by insurance, I would be remiss to not try to recoup what I can on this unit to help pay for other costs that I am dealing with.. It is not being materialistic nor trying to make a quick buck, but it is me trying to cover costs that I am going to have to deal with due to the event that hit the property. I am going to be doing the same thing with a 7 month old TREK Fuel EX7 mountain bike which was damaged by the same tree.

Being a relatively new owner, I have no concept of what the unit is worth in its current condition, nor what a "good deal" for both parties would be. The whole reason for posting this here was to try to get a better understanding of what the value for this unit is versus what I perceive it to be. Without the feedback, I am merely operating based on what I know the various components would cost to replace, which is not a realistic means of judging the worth of the unit. For example, I look at the quad, see a perfect front end, a perfectly fine, properly broken in new engine, and a quad that may, although not without much work, be repaired. Again, the primary purpose of this is to give me a shot of reality versus my perception.
