smoked a belt

So I picked up a 98 scrambler about six months ago, and the belt kept slipping. After what seemed like many hours of work the old man and I finally got it water tight, and yesterday after many hours of mud bogging we smoked the belt. Prior to this the starter went out so we removed the guts and sealed it back up (the cap broke off and this is where all of the water and mud came from). If any of you live near Spokane WA and have been out to the 7 mile ORV area after allot or rain you know how big the mud holes are (between 2-6 feet deep). So I will be replacing the belt this week and I have read everything from buy the Polaris oem, to buy the heavy duty ones. I would like to hear your opinons if I should spend 40$ or pay 120$. Thanks for any advice.

I have a moose sport utility belt that I got cheap and have had not problems at all with it, but most people say to just buy a polaris belt. They claim its the best and I haven't seen any wear out prematurity.

Dont forget to look at your primary clutch sheaves for wear. If you have a bunch of wear you will eat up the belts.

Also make sure you have the remains of the old belt out of the springs, etc.
