2011 Sportsman 550 EPS or Grizzly 550 EPS????
Hi there, wondering everyone's thoughts on these two bikes. Initially, I was leaning toward a 2011 550 EPS (red), for 9500 tax incl (canadian), however, I started shopping around at Yamaha as well. My experience with Yamaha, is that they are pretty well bulletproof, and built well.
Now that I have been talking to the Yamaha guy, his argument for four disc brakes, 100 + lbs weight difference, build, clutch system (CVT vs belt), havinfg a differential lock, and the fact that I can get into a 550 Grizz with a winch of it, for 300 less, drives a pretty convincing argument. I do like the look of the 550 Polaris, but the other factors seem to outweigh this.
From a bunch of Polaris owners, what is your take? My use for the bike would be caribou, moose hunting, and bombing around with the family.
Thanks!!

I had the same decision, except where I live I could have got a popo 850 for the same price as the yami 550...and I didn't want to spend that much coin...so I went with the popo 550 with a 3500 lbs winch and front and rear deluxe brush guards for $9600 otd...but if they were the same price I might have looked harder at the yammi....

I have about a 100 hours and 1400 miles on my 550 and haven't had any problems. It is the first atv I've ever owned and I wouldn't hesitate to get one again.

Sounds like a good deal, but I thinking shipping it from VA to Northern Canada would be a pain in the ass to say the least.
By 550 you mean the Polaris? Any reason why? So far the Yamaha camp seems to be in the lead. I like the look of the XP though. Yamaha's look pretty dated....

The thing I don't like about the Yamaha is they feel short compared to the Polaris. Seem more apt to tip over backwards than the Polaris XP. Maybe my own opinion though. Other than that they are a good machine. My Polaris XP 550 has been a good machine so far and a very comfortable and stable platform.

I'm at work on a lunch break, from my phone. I will address each of these points the yamaha guy said. Don't pull the trigger yet, let me fill your head with points from the Polaris side. By the way, I will be truthful and honest.
I'm not collecting money if I sell you, but understand, it is a salesperson job at a dealer to sell you. Ever dealers brand is the best if you ask the sales guy.
I will respond I'm much more detail tonight after work.
