Help, to HO or Not to HO
All:
I am torn between an HO model and a fuel injected model. If I go with the HO version I can afford 2 of them, one for the wife and myself. If I go with a Fuel injection model, I probably can only get one, put a second seat on and we both ride that one atv.
My question is, is it worth the extra 1500 bucks for fuel injection?? Does the HO version not perform as well?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
The efi will run better with better throttle response, etc, but it also means more electronics that can fail. If the fuel system has problems, you'll most likely have to get it worked on by a dealer. It's also less sensitive to things like altitude change.
The HO is easier to work on and has a simple system b/c of the carb. But it has a slower throttle response, is more sensitive to things like temp and altitude changes. I like machines with carbs just b/c I can work on them myself. I hate electrical problems.
From the situation you described, if it were me, I'd go with the HO's. You'll both enjoy riding a lot more on separate quads rather than 2up.The downside to having two is that you'll double your maintenance costs and time.

Thank you Razorback for the reply. I also had a secondary thought, if I had the HO an SHTF in the form of a huge earthquake etc. With the HO, I might be able to get it working with the above problem where the Electronic ignition I would be dead in the water. TWO HO's would mean I could use one for spare parts if needed. Just thinking outside the box here in worst case scenarios. I am not a dare devil and high speed demon. I prefer nice enjoyable rides, nothing crazy or extreme, or extreme driving trails. Saying this myabe the HO would suffice.

Even on the X2s, riding 2up really changes the balance of the quad and it also limits how much you can shift your weight as you go across rough or uneven terrain, up/down hills, etc. It would also be more comfortable for you both. That's why I said you'd probably both enjoy riding separately more.

We were down in Mexico last year and my wife and I took an ATV tour. She just hopped on the back of an old beat up Kawasaki with me (with no brakes to speak of) and we had a blast. You are correct though, the safest way to go is two go is atv and it will as you said be far more comfortable!!
Thx again for you opinion!

If you let your wife decide you can't go wrong. Your happiness depends on how happy your wife is.

You sir are preaching to the choir!!! My wife is on a survivalist kick right now and it has enabled me to get all sorts of new toys. This is just one of the last pieces I thought we "MIGHT" need! LOL I told her if nothing happens, then at least we will have cool toys!! LOL

Well then, from a survival standpoint the H.O.would be better in my opinion. Less reliance on electronics for the machine to run. Easier to fix with "some" mechanical knowledge, and 15yrs of proven reliability on mechanical components. My .02.

My HO runs great and im very happy with it. Honestly last year we tried getting by with just the 400 and we were always fighting for who got to drive. So we had to buy the 500ho so we would both have our own. I would go for 2 HOs over 1 efi. You both will be much happier in the long run.

Agree with POPO 500!! Already been there, done that! Go for the 2 500 HO's.
You won't be sorry. We love ours & the wife is super happy having her own
ride. No regrets here!!!!
