2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 6x6 Price
I have the opportunity to buy a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 6X6 from my neighbor.
It is like new and was always in the garage as far back as I can remember.
He'd run up and down his long driveway a couple times a year and that's it.
It only has 81 miles on it.
He put a set of tracks on it last year (though I remember him actually buying them back 2004). They're the Polaris rear wheel tracks that they stopped making a few years back and they cost $1600 the last year they were made to fit the 6x6 Sportsmans. they are like new and I don't think he's had it out since he put them on (not sure why he bothered to put them on if he never uses it)
So how much is this like new Polaris worth?
I'm not asking what I should offer him but how much would you think it's actually worth, range wise like $3500-$4500 depending, ect.
Moose hunting season here in Alaska starts in a few weeks so he knows it's the best time to sell it for the best price so I just want to know what it's actually worth, and I can take it from there.
KBB and NADA weren't much help. NADA said it was worth $1900 which I know is baloney.
I don't want to low-ball him on the price because he doesn't need the money and if I do he'll just say he doesn't want to sell it, and will then sell it to someone else for a more reasonable price.
How much are a "new old stock" set of rear tracks worth? (they were around $1600 originally when new)
I could sell them and subtract that from the overall agreed upon price. I just want the machine, not the tracks, but they are only being sold altogether.
I need to find something for hunting and I can't afford a new one so this is probably the best condition used one I could ever find.
It would sure have been much easier if he put a price on it. He just says "give me a reasonable offer for it's market value" I took that to mean he's hoping I guess high. What's the top realistic offer I should make?
Thanks for any ideas and help with this odd situation.

I would tell him what NADA said, and that you thought that was kinda low and see where he goes from there...

I should have said "What is the top reasonable offer percentage of true market value that I should offer him?" (once I find out what it's worth)
Maybe 90% ? ....because it's hunting season, and I really want it?

OK01POPO,
I'd give him $3000 for the machine (it's worth it to me) but the whole "with the tracks ony" thing is screwing me up.

o.k. considering that its a low mile 2000 model, and the tracks for that machine are only for winter use, than i would ask for the blue book value even if you think it is low.remember that the tracks are only for snow as rocks will lock up the tracks.i would offer him $2500.00 but thats me.i also live in alaska and know the hunting season is about to start.i would start at $2500.00 but be willing to go up as much as $3000.00 as it only has 81 miles on it.but like i said thats just me.

So offer him $3000 without the tracks and see if he'll go for it?
The tracks are used for swaps and bogs too I thought not just snow, right?

Id try $2,500 and go up to $3,000 with the tracks. You said they are $1,600 new but they don't make them anymore.
