welcome to the site that machine is a hard worker big and heavy, not knowing where you are riding and how often you are going to use the machine for work or play.this machine is best suited for work and hunting,if you are doing more riding than a 4 wheeler might suite you better with a trailer to hall stuff in.

I'm getting it to haul heavy gear around multiple farm and bigwoods through fall and winter I dont ride for recreation "trailriding". I got more hobbys than I can handle already lol. I'm looking for something I can load with gear and go. Again hunting trapping large farms. I love the fact that the bigboss has the dumpbox and looks like it could handle some snow and muck. Isnt it basically a sportsman with a 3rd set of wheels and a dumpbox added?

The 2012 Bigboss is great for hauling stuff. It has a full size 2" receiver for hitches (unlike some other polaris bikes). Six tires that can carry some weight and do some pushing. The rear shocks have adjustable pre-load to keep the bike from sagging too much, although with four adults and three kids on the machine, it doesn't sag much on the low setting.
The machine has lots of power, but it comes at a price in low fuel mileage.
I had a 2011 and rode a 2012, the 2012 sounds quieter and seems to drive smoother, although no major changes were made. I see some extra foam baffles under the seat on the '12 which may quieten it. It may have been just the manufacturing variance??
The front storage on the '11 came off completely allowing easy access to the radiator cap and fuses, but the "dry" storage was minimal. The '12 has much larger dry storage capacity, but access to the rad and fuse area requires removing four screws, a rubber gasket and flexing a panel to get access.
The machine does very well in mud, especially with slightly taller and more aggressive tires. For winter snow, as long as the snow is not so deep to get high-centered it will do fine. Snowmobiles are made for winter trapping.
Again, maybe just different manufacture dates, but the 2012 seems tighter, and quieter. This IS the second year with a very similar body style.
I am using the KFI winch mount on the 2012. It is bolting up with no grinding needed, unlike on the '11.
