2011 550 Touring brakes
I bought a 2011 550 Touring here in Canada and after I get it home noticed it only had three brakes not four. When I called the dealer he stated that in Canada the 550 only comes with three brakes, the X2 with turf control has four. The problem with this is I research the 550 on the Polaris web site it states four wheel disc brakes on single lever control. The mount is there for the brake. I have driven the quad and there is a put to the right when braking, I think because of the missing left rear brake. This is my 2nd Polaris quad the first being 500 HO with 4 brakes. I feel that up here in Canada we are being ripped off and a safety issued.

I believe that all the 2011 xp's have 3 disks. If you do a search I know it has been discussed here.

The machines that have turf mode have to have four wheel disks because you can unlock the rear diff and then you would have problems. You shouldn't have any pull because of the three brake system. With the locked rearend, when you brake one rear wheel it will slow the other at the same rate as they are locked together. Don't worry, you are not getting ripped off up there. They are built the same way down here and there is no safety problem to worry about.

Yeah...'11MY does have only 3!
My '09 XP 850 had 4...and when I bought the 2 Tourings...I noticed the 3. Bigger...and heavier...and NO brake issues.
IMHO...it has a lot to do with the engine/tranny braking on these XP models. I almost don't use my brakes a lot of the time.
Feel safe...and enjoy the ride.
