06 sportsman 500 efi $$1000

my neighbor has an 06 500efi he said he will sell to me for 1000$ it will need new tires and two new rims new handle bars im thinking front cv joints, and it sputters and back fires... it will drive fine then starts sputtering and some times it gets that bad it will barely move and then bam it startes running fine again. some times it will act up 2 miles outa 40 or like yesterday it sputtered about 20 miles outa 40 im not to worried about tires and rims and other small stuff but im just thinking will it be worth the headace trying to figure out the sputtering and back fireing problem but for $1000 i c decent condition ones go for like 3500+++ plastics r in good cont. just acts up engine wise. engine is quiet doesn't tick and one got any ideas was wrong with it engine wise??? or if i should pay 1000 for it also comes with 1 brand new tire, pump ,polaris winch and 2 soft luggage bags

Seems like it could be a good deal!

I see you're in Florida. I've read on many forums never to buy a used quad with engine trouble in the south because it's usually been sunk. Just be sure that's not the case here.

It could turn out to be something pretty simple, I am sure someone around here could help you figure it out. Tires and wheels is almost a good thing because you can throw a nice set of aftermarkets on with the money you're saving!

New tire, rims and handle bars? Are you sure that this machine has not been flipped? those seem like the normal replacements for something that has been rolled.

the rims hold air but the front two look bad got a few digs on the bead, not sure of the mileage but i know he mentioned that it still had the first set of brake pads on it and also did tip over once going along the RR tracks but that was my fault

Was it running the same before you rolled it at the tracks?
