New Unsold Outlaw / Predator 50
Hi,
I found a new, unsold, Pink 2008 "Predator" 50 cc at a local dealership. Predator is in quotes because I called asking if they had used Predators for sale and replied he had the '08 Predator. However, my on-line searches have determined '07 was the last year for the Predator and they started making the Outlaw in '08. So, what does he actually have? Anyway, that is besides the point as my big question is why would I want to buy a (almost) 4 yr old ATV for $1,899 which is almost the same price as 2012 model? The NADA guidebook states ...and this is just a guide...not the Bible... that a 2008 Outlaw 50 has a low retail of $815 and an average retail of $1,075. So, if I were to buy the '08 it would be worth that much as soon as I signed on the dotted line, right? I would have thrown away about $825 + immediately.
So, question to all of you...what would you think a new, unsold Outlaw 50cc is worth?
Also, kids grow fast and as parents we need to monitor our children and their activities but the dealers are restricted (to tough a term?) to selling 90cc only to kids (parents) 12 & older. A 90 cc is a size our younger kids can grow into, so spending $'s on a new 50 cc is tough to swallow, but spending $'s on a used 50 cc is not. I guess some folks need to buy the new one's so others can buy a used 50 cc but any comments?
And, yes, NADA is a guide and only a guide but it is one of the 1st places a dealer, & a lot of private party sellers, goes to when negotiating the price of a car, etc., and they also go to Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, etc. So, when it comes to buying "my" 1st ATV how much is the NADA, etc used?
Anything to look out for in a ATV this cc?
Finally, any thoughts on an average decent price for a used 50 cc? I doubt they get used all that much, or get used hard when they are used, but again, going by the used NADA book they range in price from $405 (for a 2001 Scrambler) up to $1,640 for a 2011.
Thanks for the help!
PS, my daughter just turned 8 yrs old, is average height & weight, is not ready for anything bigger than a 50 cc, and is not ready to be left alone to ride by herself. The Predator she was riding this past weekend is probably a 2005 - 2007 and I can possibly get it for no more than $950, what the guy told me he had in it. It was ridden all weekend long by lots of different kids and ran great the entire time.
Oh, 1 more ?..sorry...what size kid is too big to ride the 50? I am thinking of the 9 yr & 12 yr old neighborhood boys.....too big? They are ROUGH on equipment, even when supervised.
