Upgrading to newer model sportsman

Hi guys, i need a few questions answered.
I have a 1997 sportsman 500 that i'm trying to sell, planning to get a newer model with a winch and plow before the winter comes.
I have an opportunity to buy a 2001 sportsman 500 or a 2006 sportsman 400 or possibly a 2005 450.
I want to know what the respective power ratings are for each. I.e., what is the 1997 500 rated for, how much did the 2001 increase, and did the improvements over the years increase the power to the point that the 06 400s or 450s have more power than their larger but older predecessors.
Thanks

Welcome!

To my knowledge, not allot of changes form the '97 to the '01. But the '05+ years had some nice improvements in many things.
The 450's are like the red headed step child of the Sportsman line. Same suspension, but down on power. I would steer clear. the 400 is a smaller Hawkeye frame but a bigger motor at 455 CCs.
