They are grossly overpriced for what you get, and gone up here. I suspect they will meet the same fate in the USA too.

I was thinking the same thing...it cost 500 more than the Honda and 1000 more than the popo

Ill give my input on this topic. I used to own a 2000 Sportsman 500 and loved the damn thing it lasted me for about 6 years and then i passed it over to my wife damn thing never broke down. Legendary ride and great reliability from the 500's engine. Recently i bought a 2011 400 for my wife and we cant tell the difference from the old 500 we used to love. Ride has been improved and so has the performance. I would say a 400 is perfect for a light weight rider and a 500 is more suited for heavier riders.

Just bought a 2012 500 HO. I was also considering the 2012 400... the dealership had both in stock. My observations were as follows: $400 price difference, No front storage on the 400 (just a fixed rack), tire size was the same on both. I really liked the front storage on the 500... so I decided to go with the 5 extra HP and the front storage for the $400 extra. Just my 2 cents....

Blue 400, looks kinda sissy in this pic or the yellow 500?, should call the 400 a 450, most people will look at a 400 and think, man thats gotta be a dog!

the 2012 sportsman 400 HO also has the front storage. i know because i bought one. the only difference between 2012 500HO and 400HO is the motor. the 500HO engine is 43cc's bigger and roughly +3 more hp.
