2500 is too much. Retail on that machine should be 1500 to 2000 no more. At 2 grand it should be fully serviced and ready to use.

Mud is fun fun fun but.... it's terrible on an ATV especially those year models because they have the old universal joints instead of the cv joints with boots. A 1997 Sportsman 500 was my first atv and I loved it but had to grease the joints after every ride. check to see how the pull rope looks and it may tell you if it has had water/mud in the flywheel case. Buying an old machine can be good and bad as I just bought an 03 and had a lot to fix but if it starts and runs good I'd give em 1200 for it may be a nice ride to ride trails with, good luck with your purchase.

Ah, nice feature.

The dealer wouldn't go under $2300. I will pass. Though he did have a 2005 that looked like a possibility, I will make a new post about it.
