Should i get extended warranty on new XP 850??

So some of you know by now i'm picking up a new XP 850 EPS, but some sporadic news of lemons here and there, i was wondering if i should get an extended warranty since it only comes with 6 months.. what do you guys thinks.. another year or two??? i guess if it's a lemon, i should know whithin the first 18 months or so??..then its easier to get rid of if on warranty..and at least i wont pay all the time to fix it...

i just don't know if it covers all that much, the dealer sells the warranty as a "polaris" warranty,...

Yupper. One visit could pay for the warranty. And if there are other issues you could save your butt!

I look at the total cost of machines when I decide. I used to buy extended warranties on computers and such, but nowadays you could buy another unit for the cost of warranties.

On a big purchase? It's a no brainer. Big ticket items = big ticket repairs.

I think Thor can hook you up. Also, I would definitely get the warranty. I would get the warranty on any bike that you drive in the woods; not just the Polaris. Remember, Rash, there are thousands of Polaris owners with no problems what-so-ever with their 850, so don't let this site/forum discourage you. Enjoy possibly the best ATV ever made and don't worry about it. The 2012 models seem to have the best track record for Polaris and Can-Am. And I mention Can-Am because Polaris and Can-Am are the best ATV's available.

If I was going to by a new ATV, I would spend the $1200 because things aren't cheap.. A couple of major repairs and $1200 goes by by pretty quick.. Three years is a long time for something that is made to get the crap kicked out it in the woods..

I'll be getting a Polaris 5yr $50 deductible for my
12 850XP EPS here in a month or so.
You should search around though at other
Polaris dealers as any of them can sell it to you.
I've read online about a few places that offer the
5yr in the $800's so I'll call them when the time
comes.

Keep in mind they may try to sell you a Zurich or
Western warranty for cheaper. I have no idea
if those aftermarket warranties are as good or better
than the Polaris certified warranty. But I do know
the dealer margins on the aftermarket ones are
much higher than on the Polaris warranty. This
tells me in all reality they, the dealer, could care less
about how good the aftermarket warranty is, they just
want to make more money. I'll be sticking to the
Polaris certified warranty.
