touring and X2 rebates

have you heard what the rebates are for the touring and X2 models. polaris's website just mentions up to 1000 in rebates. just wondering what an X2 or touring model could be out the door.

2010 single cylinder (500 or 550) model X2 and touring have a $250 rebate and the 2007-2009 models have a $500 rebate.

2010 twin cylinder (800 or 850) model X2 and touring have a $250 rebate and the 2007-2009 models have a $800 rebate

those offers are good through feb. 28, 2010. what model are you looking at. i did sales for 2 years so i know all the in and outs, fees, that type of stuff. i would be happy to help you work angles and not get screwed by "salesperson" talk if you are looking at buying a new machine

in mo i don't have to pay sales tax or license fees at the dealer. i'm more worried about the atv price than sales tax or anything like that.

if i buy an X2 probably just a set of wheels. i have been buying warranties and service contracts on the last 2 i've bought. i probably would buy those too. i have a winch and brush guard that will go along with it. if i buy a touring maybe a lock n ride storage box.

there are a couple of things i dont know that might play some small part of the price.

1) if the sales volume is down, they might make a better deal
2) how long as the machine been at the shop (flooring fees)
3) strength of the local economy

ok so first off, a dealer has to pay flooring fees to polaris just like car lots do. in case you dont know, most dealers buy their machines on credit with polaris. when a machine arrives, they usually get 30 days with no flooring fees, after then, every month someone from polaris comes thru and records every unit in inventory for a monthly flooring bill. it is basically an interest rate charge. the dealer pays flooring cost until they pay polaris for the unit, either out of pocket or from payment for selling the machine. dealers who have had units around for months are more likely to cut them loose for less then units that just arrived 2 weeks ago.

so, MSRP on the 2010 550 X2 is $8,079
rebate from polaris is $250.
dealer should be able to at least match that....another $250
DO NOT pay freight and set-up fees!!!

yes, the dealer does get charged for freight and set-up fees from polaris. i cannot say how much, it is confidental, but i can say it is in the neighboorhood of a couple hundred dollars. there is still enough room in profit the dealer doesnt loose money. plus set-up takes about 30 mins tops from create to trailer. most dealers will try to make money here, refuse to pay it! we never ever charge fright and set-up fees at our shop, so it does happen.

$250 off from the dealer i feel is a very safe number. i wouldnt be surprised if they go even more. i would settle for anything less then $250 from them, but i would push for $500 off or so.
profit for the dealer is not great, not like selling cars anyway. again, i cant say what it is exactly, but after the dealer pays the fright and set up fees to polaris, it is less then $1,000 profit if they take no additonal money off.

so on just the machine...
$8,999 (MSRP)
- $250 (Polaris Rebate)
- $250 (Dealer Discount)
= $8,499
i wouldnt pay any more then this. this still leave the dealer with a $700 profit or so.

2010 550 touring with EPS
$9,299
- $250 (Polaris Rebate)
- $250 (Dealer Discount)
=$8,799

on any accessories you get from them, i would expect at least 10% any and all purchased at the time of the sale, but wouldnt expect more then 30% off. dealer profit on accessories is only about 35% or so.

on any labor to install accessories, depending on what it was you were getting, simple stuff like rack ext., hard storage box, winch, ect....i would expect installed free. if you get a lot of accesoriess (30min or more install time), then i would expect 30%-50% off labor. if the mechanic is commission, usually the mechanic makes 50% of the hourly shop rate, so mechanic gets money for the install, and you get a nice discount.

any questions or clarifications let me know!
hope this helps!
