04 sportsman 600??

Going to look at a 04 sportsman 600, under 500 miles, 80 hrs, appears to be clean looking quad. What should I look for? Any problems to watch out for on the 600's?

Sounds like you are buying my 600!!! I got mine a month ago, same miles and hours. I have put nearly 20 hours on since then with no issues. BTW....I paid $2800 for mine, though the rear tires are a bit worn and it is in good shape, but not pristine. It is VERY hard to start cold, but once running, no issues.

The 600's are definitely cold blooded. However, I had an 04 600 that I used for 3 winters of plowing. The machine would start at -20 no problem, but I had to ride it with the choke half open for 10 minutes. I sold mine for $3500 with 2200 miles and the 60" Glacier plow.

I have read threads in this forum on curing the hard starting, but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I just make sure to start mine at home and run it for 10 minutes before I haul it to the trailhead. Once at teh trailhead it fires right up. I also keep a battery tender on it the battery is always full for that initial start.

I just traded in my 2004 600 that I bought new. I had to replace the starter last year and also the front cv joints. The reason I traded it in was that the AWD quit working during deer hunting season and it ended up needing a new front diff. The dealer said water somehow got into it. Mine was also cold blooded BUT it always started even up here in Minnesota.

Any other comments on the 600's?? Would I be better off looking for a 400 or 500 instead? Thx for all the info.
