They did improve the cooling system on the new G2 chassis. Does Polaris have a patent on the way the engine is rotated on the XP? I see no one else has done it.
Hasn't Honda had this configuration for a while. It makes sense since it's one less 90 degree turn for the power transmission.

Thanks. You are right, honda has had it for a while. :-)

Can-am problems for the new XT outlander is
the black end piece on the brush guards brake off easy.
you have to buy the eps model for Visco lok QE
Needs skid plates even on the new G2 frames
Back trunk opens randomly some times
first year model

Polaris bads
Needs better skid plates
some bad welds A arms frame (not that common tho)
needs brush guards front and back
Bad MPG 9.4 mpg with hard riding so this is like low as possible almost 6 gallons

Goods for can-am
Good throttle response
grate MPG 14.1 with 5 gallon tank
smooth ride
for sure faster
Don't you want to see a 1000 label on the side
New G2 frame
3 mode EPS
ROTAX V Twin. Enough said

Polaris goods
Best work bike made
Best 4x4 system
Best usable ground clearance
new and Improved air box
Best ride
Best price but you do get your moneys worth of stuff on the can-am
4 years being made so bugs are almost all worked out
narrow seat because in-line twin
better for hunting then the outlander
smother control of power
You stay with the same brand
My 12 850 has a 5+ gallon gas tank. The new ones do.

In its current form, all evidence and test after test by the pro's supports that the xp is still the best all around big bore in the business at this point.. In a drag race the oulander is gonna win, but not by more than a quad length or two tops.. Thats all the outlander has on the xp.. I have no doubt that the outader is a fantastic machine and brp has done wonders for its ride and handling.. You'll love it if buy it, but you'll be riding the second best atv on the mkt.. Thats just a fact.. And you know know whats gonna happen right?..Though its closer than before, the outlander is still in the xp's rear view mirror.. You'll buy the outty in 2013 just in time for polaris to make changes to the xp that puts the outlander even further behind it..

outlander 1000 or polaris 850

The outlander gets way too hot on your legs when riding in the summer. I was told this was one of the main reasons polaris turned the engine on the 850. I rode the Can Am and hated all of the heat so i bought the polaris. I haven't ridden the 1000 but with what the 850 has to put out I find it hard to believe anyone would need a bigger engine. I think it is honda that makes around a 600 cc and it's only like 30 couple horsepower. I wonder if the Can Am will be the same way? Lots of CCs but no rear improvement on performance.

just hoping that polaris bumps the xp up to 80 or so hp for 2013. definetly going to goto a couple of events where i can test drive and shot the shiznot with some people who ride both machines. going to most likely stay within the family but need to make the right decision for the long term.
