Polaris Scrambler 400 vs. 500

I am 15 looking to get a 4x4 Polaris scrambler $2000 or so price range

I live where I plan on driving in snow
If I have to go threw mud I can
Small puddles 1-2.5 ft not fast I don't like getting wet
Woods and an old pro AMA motocross track with big hills not really a jumper maybe a foot or two
Field

I like to ride balls to the wall
I can drive anything
I have lots if mechanical experience with rebuilds excreta

I want a reliable
I don't want tough rebuilds

What's pros and cons of both?
What common problems occur
I want to stay engine stock and exhausts are okay as long as quiet
What's stock HP
Top Speed

What do you guys recammend

The scram 400 is going to be more brute and balls to the wall power than the 500 will be. They're also less maintenance, but will require top end rebuilds more often. But as you probably know, rebuilding the top end of a 2stroke is much easier then rebuilding a 4 stroke.

They're both pretty simple and basic machines. the 400 is probably going to be louder then the 500 though, if that matters.

Do any of them have common problems? I know my quad eats cams and heads.

How often on rebuilds? For each

Before you buy, Check counterbalancer oil for water mixed in (will look like chocolate milk)

It's on the 400, Plug is under Seat By Carb, (There bad for H20 Pump Seals)

And Trust me. If you like to Go FAST you will like the 400 MUCH better , WAY more power , And LOTS Of After market parts to get them going.

You will need to do a top End When the Quad hits 3000 miles (4800km's)
Unless it Was Driven Nice. Then you can get a LOT more. (my 400 it was done at 5,000 miles ) But now she is at 6500 miles And she is going to need a Crank Kit Soon. (crankcase bearings Have a Little Movement in them ,) But she Still Runs And Drives With LOTS of power.

YOuTube Both of them Lots more info there!

Starpuss

At 7000 miles the crank needs to be redone?
I don't want a quad that I need to drop a lot of cash in.
How hard is it to rebuilt and does it run better in the winter over the 500

Keep stock exhaust (especially if you still are running the stock piston) and get it trail ported. Mine was a sleeper with that setup. FYI, the stock piston is prone to breaking the skirts off when running an aftermarket pipe.
