2012 Sportsman 850 Touring EPS
Been shopping around for the past couple of weeks and have pretty much narrowed down my list to a 2012 850 Touring. I wanted to throw some prices at y'all and see how good they are compared to other members in the market. Here's the best I've found so far:
2012 Sportsman 850 Touring EPS - Red or Blue - $9,500 + $99.50 doc. fee + $299.50 freight and prep fee which totals to $9,899 OTD.
I'm not too keen on paying a freight and prep fee, but not sure how to approach the dealer on it. Has anyone had any luck asking for credit towards a winch, service, etc.?
They also quoted me a 2 year extended warranty at $600 and a 5 year at $975.
Thoughts?

First thing to remember is it's not always about price but finding a dealer with a top notch service department . Price doesn't matter in the end with a shitty dealer.
The machine price doesn't seem out of line, Prep fees are BS but it's the total after all fee's that make the difference, they could hide the prep fee and up the cost of the machine to help you feel warm and fuzzy.
I can say I paid under $800 for my 5 year Polaris extended warranty. Extended warranties are almost pure profit for the dealer. I was looking at Offroad Power Sports website for comparison and they have the New white LE Tourings listed for $9999 OTD.

I agree with you on finding a good dealer, however I can really only go on how they treated us when we went and looked at bikes. I've never owned a Polaris and have never dealt with any of their service departments. There are 3 dealers within driving distance and I've already pretty much ruled out the closest one to me due to how they treated me when I went to look. I have a problem with having to find someone to talk to in a dealership, not to mention the fact that they also acted like I was putting them out with my questions.

I wouldn't pay the doc or freight setup fees but that's just me. I know I live in a different area than you but I bought a new 850 EPS a month ago and 4 of the 5 dealers I talked to wanted to charge those fees and I got those 4 to drop those fees. Negotiate bike price without those fees so you can compare apples to apples against other dealers. Some will drop them only to increase the purchase price to hide them in there.

I'm currently talking to a couple of dealers, I got quoted $9299 yesterday for an 850 Touring from a closer dealership, but am waiting to hear back on whether or not any other fees will be assessed. Plan on going over Saturday and talking face to face. Haven't been able to find a local dealer with a touring in stock as of yet.

Absolutely ask if they will throw in an accessory or two.. Be polite, but you're the customer and you can buy anywhere you wish.. I told 3 guys I'll buy a touring from you for $9300 but it has to include a 2500lb winch.. Call me if you want to move one.. It only took a week for one of them to call.. The winch is $500 which backed my price down to $8800 + tax.. I was happy, and the dlr was happy to move a piece..
Just plant the seed and let the guy think about it.. In the heat of the moment the seller isn't likely to break on price.. Put a firm but realistic number in front of him and walk out the door.. Worst case, you blink 1st and pay a little more.. Rule one with any large ticket purchase is don't fall in love with the machine until you own it..

dang, I think I paid a little too much for my 2010 850 touring. I paid 8900ish out the door. It was a left over and 2010 with like 35 miles. I traded in my 2011 550 eps, which I took a little lose, but I think in the long run it will be alot more fun with the power and using it as a 2 up when or if I wanted. He did do some good things with my other accessories. I got the big box for back for $100 orig 249, with giving him my old cover, and also I got a winch and 2 newer boxes for the back for my old front box.
Golf, when did you buy yours?

I agree with Forrest - about a month ago I got a left-over 2011 850 (non-eps) and shopped around the state. Dealer handling, ship and assembly, everyone has a different name for it and it is up to negotiation. I only paid $45. for the paperwork/title stuff. And the dealer offeres some sweet deals on accesories if I wanted them. I opted out of the warranty. Not sure that was a good choice but it's too late now.

The wife and I went and looked again this past weekend. I think we have talked ourselves out of the touring model, just can't justify the extra $1,000. She didn't like the "stadium seating" feel to the passenger seat and for no more than she is going to ride, we can pick up a seat that will strap on to the rack. We were quoted $8,499 for a 2012 850 XP EPS.
