How much will it cost to get an average 4x4?

I just bought a predator 500 and it's a blast. So I decided I'm gonna look to add a 4x4 to my garage soon for the mud/snow or anyhting else my predator isnt designed for. I know the predator will do it, but a 4x4 will do it better and I want to plow some snow jumps for my snowmobile anyways haha. I'm just curious how much it'd cost to get a pretty decent one? I'd prefer a big motor, 2 wheel/4 wheel option unless they're all that way. Not to old.. Around 2000 bucks if possible! But that's why I'm asking. I could probably make it a little more if need be.. My neighbor has one like this that is what I'm prettymuch looking for but what can I get in my price range?

Have you tried Craigslist? Sometimes you can find a good deal on there. Or a local auto trader style paper. There are also other forums with buy/sell threads.

2000 isnt bad but if u should try 2500 just because ive seen regular bikes go for 2k but another with a shit load of mods go for 2300 just a couple more bucks and you would have over 1500 in after market stuff but try CL and your local auctions
i got my bike cheap 500 and just put the time and money into her and shes great
but now ima try and sell her to make me a mud truck lol

Check out ebay. Even if you don't buy there, it will give ya some idea about prices. Might even find a good deal. I found what I wanted at a great price, but after shipping it would not have been that great,WR.

Alright awesome thanks guys.. The thing is I'm selling a snowmobile worth 6500 to split the money and buy a cheaper snowmobile AND another foruwheeler. It didnt even snow this year so I dont want this much money into a sled lol. If the one in the pic is about 3000 or a little more then thats what I'll have to buy..

I don't know if these prices only pertain to Polaris machines, but up here it is hard to find anything good for less than $3000 private seller. For that you usually get smaller machine or beat/high mile mid-size. Doesn't seem to make much difference as to make, as long as not Chinese. All seem to be above KBB Excellent book, older Hondas ('98 - 06) 350-500cc are generally highest over book. I just got '02 Kodiak 400 4X4 above average condition, decent tires (new rear devils), Yamaha winch, maybe 347 miles (has trip only claimed never reset), needs 1 boot and 1 front axle guard $2300 only because I was a take-it-or-leave-it with a needy seller, asked $2500 firm on CL. Everything seems higher in NY! Sucks!

The one in to OP looks to have a lift kit, and oversize tires. I don't know about other places, but here in WV, unless you get lucky, anything less than 3500 you are going to get something thats ragged out, or too small. I would be careful buying someone else problems.

I would not go older than an 05 if I could, and thats about the boarder of your price range.

Kong, I agree with your comments. However, this is my first and I'm not sure how much use I will have for it around farm. Some snow plowing and fence work for sure but doubt if I would put more than 75-100 miles per year. This is a small price to pay to find out if I want to spend more later. Hope the damn thing isn't a lemon or that no major breakdowns. I have more tools than brains or money! Thanks for your input.

That's rub, isn't it. You get a good deal, and it does not work out, and it will sour you on the experience.

You would be surprised if you have any kind of trails close and you get to exploring, how much you can enjoy it. It will soon be more than just a work tool, and it will become a recreational expense lol.
