Top speed Polaris Sportsman 850 XPS 2-up/Touring, 2010 model?

Hi there!
I am considerig buying a 2010 Polaris Sportsman 850 XPS Touring or a Can Am Outlander MAX 800 XTP, and i wonder what the top-speed on the Polaris is. I'm gonna use it 50-50% on- and off-road.
I've checked th CanAM, which reaches about 120- 125 km/h, but have not seen any numbers on the Polaris.
I would like to be able to keep up with highwayspeed in Norway, which is 110 km/t.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

Roy I.

you crazy europeans!
i dont know about sustained speed but ive seen one hit 80mph (128kph)

that was with trail tires, i suppose you would want more of a "road" tire which would probably help things.

Hei Roy og velcommen! Andebu er ikke så langt fra mitt gamle hjem i Tjodalyng. Mellom Larvik og Sandefjord. Min X bor på en øy (Veierland) utenfor Tonsberg, Back to English for the group. Go with the XP. You will be much happier. All my clients who have imported them have been very happy. The Can-Ams have issues that can be very expensive to fix. Need help let me know (bare klikk nedenfor)

Thor

Our old farm at Løve, just off of RV 303 between Larvik and Sandefjord.

Thanx all!!
Why do you guys call us Europeans crazy??

Hi Thor! I've actually been to Løve Øvre or Løve Mellom, I'm not quite sure which one it was. I actually drove my 56 Pontiac StarChief Conv (RIP...) in a wedding down there in the late 80's!!

I have family on Veierland too, Brit Hernes. It's a small world, eh?

So you'd recommend me to go for the 2010 Polaris Sportsman 850 XPS 2-up/Touring then, and not the CanAm Outlander Max 800 XT-P??

Can you give me some examples of some pro's and con's of them both, or just plain tell me why I should choose the Polaris?

For some reason most 4-wheelers round here is CanAm's, mostly Outty 650's and some 800's.
The CanAm-dealer, Moflaten in Skien, is extremely good at service after the initial buy, and there is nothing of that kind for the Polaris...
Only CBP in Skien, and they know how to fill fuel, the rest has to be read in the thick service manual....

If I import an ATV through you, can it be registered in Norway as a Motorbike, and not only as a Tractor (EU-T3)??

Thanks again, and sorry for all the questions..

Roy I.

Late 80's that is when I was Russ. (1989). My Father built the subdivision Helleren which was part of our farm. As for Can-AM being more popular. This is because they are cheaper. Can-Am subsidises the European market to sell, unlike Polaris. As for issues please feel free to do some research. You will find engine issues, Frame + +. They just do not hold up well. At Least here under the extremes.

Regarding tracktor vs mc you will have to do more research on your end. My guys who purchase do not inform me of what they do. I know several have been taking advantage of the "tractor loop hole" to save KR ($).

As for Importing you will find that it is much cheaper vs paying the distributors and dealers crazy markup.

Best of luck!

Thor

Too fast for me

I just bought one (850 Touring), I will have had it two weeks tomorrow. My wife and I ride it every day. I had an 500 X2 for 4 years and frankly the 850 screams speed and smooth power. A couple of days ago I was riding with my wife and I opened it up--scared me to death--really moved out. I was too nervous to look down at the speedometer and my wife was pleading for me to slow down. We were still accelerating when I backed off. Frankly I lack the skills to safely ride this at top out speed. For now I get my kicks out of the amazing acceleration. Very fun ride.
