08 550xp
Hi All,
I've got a chance to buy an 08 XP 550 (the one with the passenger seat and tipper tray) second hand.
It's apparently got only about 500km's, and looks new in the pictures he sent.
A new 2010 one at our local dealer is exactly 13k $AUS, and he is asking 8k $AUS.
Was there many issues with the 08 model?
Is Polaris's warranty worth $5k?
Anything I should look for when I check it out?
Cheers,

Hi Slyder,
You are correct, I have given the wrong description.
It is an 08 500 X2 (according to the seller), with 28hrs/550kms.
Could anybody please answer my questions regarding this model, as I will look at it in 2 days time.
Please forgive my error.
Cheers.

as far as i know, there are no issues with that machine. I had an 07 800 sportsman and put 2000 miles on it and never had any problems. The 500's are a tough and reliable machine.
I don't quite understand the money figures you're talking about. Here at that time at the end of 08 you could get an 08 sportsman 800 for 7,000 u.s. dollars brand new

Hi,
These things are more expensive in Australia, as they are imported.
For example, a new 550 XP is now 13k $AUS at our local dealer, reduced from 15k.
An 850 XP is pushing 16k.
This (second hand) machine apparently has all the bar work as well.
The USD was a lot stronger in 08 than now as well.
I'm not hell bent on buying it, as I'd prefer an 800 or something like that.
How much is a Yamaha Grizzly 700 in the US?
They are $AUS 12800 brand new here.
I had heard of problems with the XP's in the front diff, is this true?

you'll be happier with an xp.. Test ride them both and then you will make the decision.
Some xp's had problems but the bugs are getting worked out. You'll only hear about problems, otherwise there would be no forum,,lol
