New AtV Help
Hi everyone! I'm thinking of buying a new ATV and really need some help, First I'am new here, but my intention is to buy the best machine for my money. I have owned two ATV's, and older Honda 300, and a Polaris Sportsman. The Honda was a excellent machine with a little maintenance. The sportsman I had problems. I had the machine two years and put 60 miles on it. I was ice fishing one day and went to back out of a rut and the transmission went. I did not put the extended warrenty on it because of the reputation I had heard about them. I brought it to the dealer and he and the mechanic said that they had never seen anything like this before. A very large piece of the right cover was completly gone and oil was dripping out. Because there was no extended warrenty the dealer had said that they would have to contact Polaris. After about a week I got a call from the dealer and they said Polaris was going to supply a brand new transmission but I would have to cover labor cost. So, here I have what I consider to be the best machine made and after only 60 miles I have to pay out $500.00 to fix it. I sold the machine shortly there after. Now I'm in desperate need of another machine and have narrowed it down to a Honda or a Polaris. The polaris fits the bill more so than the honda. I plan to use it in snow with tracks and have been told that the best machine to buy with tracks is the Polaris. My only resource is sales people, so I joined this forum to get information directly from users. I'm not bashing Polaris, but I'm a bit gun shy to buy another. Sorry for the long post, Any information will be much appreciated. I will be using the machine for both hunting and trapping.
