Question 07 hawkeye 300 4x4?

hi guys;

i currently ride an 87 trailboss 250 4x4, and have been looking for something a little more reliable and capable. i really want to get on a 4-stroke, and want a 4x4, as i do alot of hunting and fishing. i have found a green 07 hawkeye 300 4x4 on kijiji today in my region, for $2600 cndn. it has 2600 miles, though. the bike looks pretty clean in pics, and has a rear storage box and winch. any suggestions? i dont want another solid rear axle, and i dont want another 2-smoker. my dad just bought an 09 kingquad 750 with eps, and he loves it, but i cant afford a suzuki and i really love polaris's. my price cap is around $2800, and i would like to stick with a midsize. how reliable are the hawkeyes? im in highschool, and cant really afford to keep wrenching on a bike, especially if i just shelled out this much cash to buy it. thanks in advance for any suggestions, all help is appriciated.

Billy

The Hawkeye is a nice quad but it is SLOW!!! I purchased one before my XP and only kept it for about a week because of the lack of speed. I purchased a used 07 w/1K miles on it for $1700.-

My wife has a 06 and she loves it. I ride it sometime also. Yes, it's slower that my 700, but it will stay up with us on the trails. The weight compared to my 700 makes it very nimble in the trails (we ride alot at Hatfield-McCoy). Don't buy an 06 since you will need to replace the rear lower frame as it will break. It was corrected on the 07-up. I paid $3200 out the door used for it two years ago.

I have done a DynoJet jetkit on it and it really woke it up and I also installed 25x10-12 and 25x8-12 tires on the stock rims giving it about 2 inches more ground clearance. I'll try to post some photos.
