New Ranger - Need Manual

My brother in law just bought a new Ranger "duallie" and he's looking for a factory service manual. Not the schematics, but the book the shop techs use to repairthe things. He says he's tried Polaris and they don't (or won't) sell them and he want's something more than the parts list and schematics. Does anyone know where you can get one?

Your brother in law is either misunderstanding Polaris, or lying to you. You can buy the OEM factory service manual from Polaris.

There are also many manuals on this forum available for download.

As far as I know Polaris dealers get the big tech service manuals when the machines come out. They are to be kept at the dealerships for the Polaris service department to use. About the only way to buy one is find one at a dealership that is closing or selling out. I have a Polaris service manual that I borrowed from an ex-service manger. He said they cost about $500 in 1997. It has a whole lot of information in it that a chilton or regular service manual can only dream of. It has sections of symptons, cause, and solution charts to help diagnose problems. It is a large binder about 12"x10" and about 4" thick.

damn, $500? I hope that was for more than a single year/model. They're around $50. Usually they just come as a pastic sealed stack of papers with holes punched on the side so you can stick them in a 3ring binder. These are factory service manuals, they even have a polaris oem part number.

The manual I borrowed covers 1996-1998 all Polaris atvs. That is what I was told the cost was IDK for sure.
