Synthetic winch rope repair?????
So in the middle of the biggest dumping of snow we've seen in years, I snapped my winch rope while plowing...... Must have had a chafe somewhere I didn't notice. I tied the hook back on with a bowline but I know that wont last.
Anyone rebraided the eyelet on their's instead of just replacing the whole rope? Got a link to a how-to?
No sense wasting the other perfectly good 45 feet or so for no reason.

Thanks for the idea on the fisherman's knot. It's one of a few that look like it will suit the bill for now.
As for a permanent repair, I'm looking at something like this.
12-Strand Eye Tuck

What's the reason you can't just make a single or double loop knot regarding syn rope?
Is it a safety factor, and if so why wouldn't a double loop knot hold?

Tying a knot in a rope significantly reduces it's strength. Many knots reduce the strength of a rope by 50%. The fibers used in synthetic ropes are even more particular regarding having the fibers crushed or broken. Some knots are better at retaining the integrity of the rope so it maintains its strength.
I ended up using an anchor knot and so far it's working.
The good news is I made $100 plowing last night so I can just get a new line and repair the old one for a back-up or extension........
