Now i took the starter to realize that it needs to be rebuilt, all brushes are broke, thus making it now work. Just too bad that i had to remove clutch to get to starter. On top of this my pull recoil rope broke having to replace that too.

yeah,..i got 2 starters for my 400,..both work on bench,click on bike,...both probably need a rebuild,...my recoil was bad too,found a used one for 15 bucks,..polaris parts are high on the recoil an its a big big pain to try to put one together!!! that spring is a witch!!!! might not be too bad to just put rope back in it just make sure you preload reel before puttin rope on it!!
