I just serviced my 2003 Sportsman 600 and I put 90w gear oil in the front and real differentials. Then someone told me it takes universal ATF in the front differential. I have never heard of such.. Why would the front differential need ATF? Why kinds do yall use? Thanks

You could probably get by with 90 in the summertime but when it starts cooling off, below 50 ,the front hubs might not engage.

Front diff oil

ATF - probably because there are some sort of "clutch plates" in there?
