Won't go into H or P

Hey there. I'm brand new here and looking for a solution. The other day I got my 2004 Sprortsman 700 REALLY STUCK. After getting it out It was working fine and we drove to where my turkey blind was. I shifted out of high and into reverse. Now it will not go into high or park. I've tried pressing the foot brake pedal..didn't help. I tried turn the machine off...same thing. It's not a case where the gears grind. It just wont go forward into high and it's same when I try to pull it back into park. Any ideas?

WELCOME!!

At first I was going to suggest idle setting too high. But I read it still will not shift even when off...I would check and adjust linkages.

On the foot brake there is a short spring that hooks to the tranny, That most likely has become disconnected

Bigdog I think you're correct. I'm going down to my place this morning (where my ATV is) and I'll take a look at that spring issue. I think you may be correct as the foot pedal didn't feel the same after I got stuck.

My buddy has a 2005 700 EFI and his you don't have to depress the brake pedal to get it into high gear but mine needs to be depressed.

I'll let you guys know tonight.

GOOD NEWS. I found the spring between the brake pedal and the tranny had come off. It was still hanging on the tranny. I hooked it up and all is good again.

Thanks for all the help!
