I have an 03 Ranger 500 straight rear axle that I need to pull due to rear differential issues. My issue with the rear end is the following: 8 yr old daughter was in mud spinning and said she put in 4x4 and locked differential. Now the left (driver) side will not grab. Heard grinding noise and axle now spins but very rough no matter whether diff is locked or 4x4 is on, it will spin freely. I feel that either the axle splines are stripped or something in the gearcase. Any more suggestions?

Need help with the easiest way to pull the axles, pull the rear gear case or how do I separate the axles from the gear case. The parts manual is not real clear on how they are connected to the gearcase. Thanks in advance

They are in with a snap ring. Just give them a good tug and they will come out.
