Cooling fan intermitting problem...Temp Sensor?

Ok....replaced a thermo fan switch in may 2011...Fan ran fine since now..would'nt run the other night...jumped the connector fan went on...connected it fan would'nt run....unhooked the temp sensor and fan still would'nt come on....and never got a HOTT light...My Question is this...it's a single wire temp sensor the fan should have gone on.? and it this maybe why my Hott light is not comming on...and i'm having a intermitting fan problem...?

Well ran it tonight.....210 degrees no HOTT light or cooling fan operation...i had to jump the thermo fan switch to cool it down....anybody??? I'm thinking Temp sensor....no light and no operation, what confuses me is the fan does'nt work if you unhook the temp sensor....hmmm...what a battle this has been!!!

Well i finally figured it out....took the front cargo box off and did some checks....found the fan relay and a half broken wire.....repaired it...we're back in business...Replaced the relay anyways..and i'm replacing the temp sensor also....it's been threw a few Hott cycles the past few days, Muddie49

Well..the system is running fine, but i wanted to change the temp sensor...i ordered one from Cheapcycle and it was the wrong one, but the guy says that's what it calls for... well its not it's too short and does'nt go in far enough into the cylinder and is completly different...the one that he sent me after 2 weeks is flat at the treads and the one that i need is shaped like a spark plug....with alittle cup on the bottom....he would not let me send it back even when it was still in the bag..., i even check the production date...anyways i checked an 08 model and it has a different number some,i'm going to Polaris on sat and see what goes...Cheapcycle won't be getting anymore business form me.....guy did'nt know his arse from a hole in the ground....told me to ask a Polaris Tech...what is he kidding them tech's won't talk to us.....unless you pay them online...

maybe its only your connector being rusted, it could make it intermitent.

Hey my cooling fan isn't working either however it dose work when i jump straight to the battery and i do get the Hot warning on the speedo what do you think my problem is?I thought it may be the sensor but if it was would i get the warning?Where exactly is this relay and what dose it look like (apart from a rely that is) my conector looks clean.

my fan dont come on and I'm new to this how do i jump the fan to check to see if its the fan or not?

Chinno and intimadationrc, what year and models do you both have? the cooling system had many changes along the way and could be a number of things depending on the system.
