exhaust donut 7oo sp

I just bought a 2003 700 sportsman, it sounds like the exhaust donut is shot, it gets louder and louder everytime i ride it, i was wondering if it's ok to drive the machine until the dealer gets me a new donut, or will it hurt the machine. thanks.
