**2000 250 xplorer counterbalance/tranny fluid help!!!***

I have looked everywhere for counterbalance fill plug and transmission/gear oil dipstick. I found one plug low and right on the transmission section, but that's it and it's just a bolt...There is also a small flathead screw/bolt on the back of the engine just under the carb, but it has a hose running to the 2stroke oil reservoir connected to it. I'm about to pull my hair out!!! Also does the oil coming from the front reservoir serve any other purpose besides mixing with the gas??? Please help. Thanks 0.o

The 250 engine does NOT have a counter balancer, so there is no oil to check. The trans dipstick is on the right side(sitting on quad) of the trans in frt of the drive sprocket by the brake fluid reservoir.

I know the "VOICES" aren't real but they have some great ideas.

i love you buddy! The bolt I found is right around were you are describing, but it wasn't a measurable dipstick and I put 11 ounces???? I also put a little(ounce or two) two-stroke oil in the crank for good measure. Good or bad idea?

It may foul the plug when you start it. Have you just repaired engine or just doing maintenance?
Also forgot to mention that the oil from the front tank is the lubrication for the engine. So to answer
your previous question, Yes it does do more than just mix with the fuel.

rebuild and maintenance....it mustve got hot for some reason and the rings pinched, causing it to lose compression. I honed the cylinder and bought everything to do a top rebuild. I'm also probably gonna disconnect the oil injector and just premix. But the top is currently disassembled.

Hopefully you bought a Wiseco piston to replace the stock one. The stock pistons are ticking time bombs, it's not if they will grenade, but when. Also, have the cylinder bore diameter checked to make your going to have a good fit with your piston. Buddy

I've got a Haynes manual that states 27 ozs. But, it doesn't specify a year model. The manual covers "98 to 06" year models.
