87 Trail Boss 250 dies after riding for a while

Alright guys,

I just bought an 87 Trail Boss 250 4x4 as a project to work on till Summer comes around. She starts right up and runs fine for about an hour, then it will suddenly die and will only start back up after sitting for a while. After I let it sit she starts back up fine again. I'm thinking that its something temp related because it only dies after running for a while. Also right after it died we pulled the seat off and didn't see any fuel sitting in the fuel filter. Maybe the fuel pump is malfunctioning after it gets warm? If you guys could give me a few things to start looking for that would be great. I just ordered a manual for the thing so hopefully I can start tearing into it soon and get everything cleaned out.

Cheers!

when it dies, pull spark plug and see if it has spark, if it does then maybe its gas related, id the vent tube on top of gas tank clear? maybe try loosening cap right after it dies, if it starts right back up youl know its the vent

We will definitely try checking for spark next time it dies. Last time it died we pulled the seat off and noticed there was no fuel in the little fuel filter chamber. What would cause the fuel to stop flowing once it gets hot?
