I found a few things wrong with my 92 350L Taril Boss today.
Battery wont charge while engine is running, I found this out by leaving the headlight on and it was very dim after an hour of running. I'm guessing the stator is the problem.
The "Hot" light was on after running for an hour.
The fan was not running when the "Hot" light was on.
I can live with the stator not working for now but the cooling issue bothers me. I felt the radiator and it was not hot, the upper collant line was not hot either. I don't know much about Atv's so I'm not sure where to check first. Should I replace the thermostat and see what happens? Is there any way to check if the water pump is working without having to almost pull the engine to check it? Does the fan run off of a sensor on the radiator and if so would that be the reason it wasn't working if the sensor was bad? can I disconnect the fan and put 12v to it and see if it runs?
I understand I have a lot of questions and I can give any additional ifo if needed.

yes you can put 12 volts to fan to see if its working, but fan wont work if battery is dead and not charging, chargiing issues are usually the voltage regulator located in front of radiator, fix charging issue and see if over heat issue goes away
Is there any way to test or check the regulator? I did my best testing the stator by poking the two yellow wires with a test light and I'm getting current during idle and when I rev it up the light gets brighter, is that any indication that the stator is working fine?
I removed the drain plug under my recoil starter 10mm bolt and nothing came out, is that a problem as well? I read somewhere about antifreze in the gear oil, is this where I check it and if nothing came out when I removed it does that mean I need gear oil? I have the manual and it doesnt state anywhere that this area takes any fluids am I lookng in the wrong place for coolant in the oil?
I think i would start by checkin the wire connections at the voltage regulator as they are known to corrode and break at the connector, usually the red battery feed wire. You can unplug the thermistor and jumper the connection on the harness side to verify proper fan operation. If fan works i suspect you have a bad thermistor
