Winch Problems

I have a 2.5 warn winch on my 04 polaris sportsman 500. I have been having issues with the winch for a while now, if I leave it sit for a while the relay(i'm guessing thats what its considered) will click everytime I hit the in or out switch, usually all i have to do is tap the winch with a hammer and it'll start working but this time it didnt work. If it is the relay is there an easy fix, I got laidoff and cant afford to buy new. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Do you have any corrosion at the cable connections? If tapping the winch body cures the problem I'd start there. Is the battery fully charged? I use a tender on mine if it sits for very long. Sorry to hear about the job loss.....My mill shut down 2 yrs ago and I'm still looking for work. Good Luck!

Thanks Clinebo, no there was no corrosion on connections there was alil dirt but i cleaned that up pretty good. I tapped on the winch for a while and nothing happened. Battery is fully charged. thats y im thinking it might b the relay because i know solenoids click when there bad. thanks for your help and good luck with your job search.
