Petcock Not shutting off fuel

2000 Xplorer 400 4x4. When I turn the petcock to off position it only slows flow of gas coming out of fuel line. Anyone have this happen to them before/how to fix? I had to clean out carb and now because petcock wont stop fuel its coming out of bottom of carb, havent investigated fully but its either the float or the o ring around bottom bowl nut or the bowl gasket. I'm going to get a new o ring and gasket anyway just to be sure. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated

needle and seat are bad in your carb if gas is runnin out of bottom, most times when petcock wont shut off it needs replaced

The part in the clear bag above the "o" ring is the needle seat. The fuel is coming out the carb because the needle seat is stuck open. The petcock needs to be replaced or use a universal in-line shut off. Prime line make a universal fuel shut off for 1/4" fuel line. Part # is 7-02324-1. You can buy it at most part stores.
