01 sportsman 400 wont start when 6 pin connector is plugged into headlight pod

Hi was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem

My 2001 polaris sportsman 400 turns over when I turn the key but wont start...I unplug the 6 pin connector in my headlight pod and it starts right away,but without the 6 pin plugged in I have no awd ,speedo wont work and I can over exceed the usual 7mph in reverse without it wanting to stall meaning no over ride is needed......Im starting to think maybe a short in a wire or something can someone help me with this please as well as is there a part number for for a new 6 pin connector and wires? thanks alot

The black wire in the 6 pin connector is the ign. kill circuit. The easiest way to see if you have a wiring problem in this circuit is to locate the cdi box and disconnect the black wire. This effectively eliminates the entire ignition kill circuit. plug in 6 pin connector and try to start atv. If it starts you have a break in the black wire ign. kill circuit somewhere. You will have to re-connect black wire to shut atv down. let me know if this doesnt work and i can help you dignose further.

k will try it next time, my atv is out at the cabin and im a couple hours away right now is it possible u message me a few more diagnoses as I do not have internet there and would be easier to just print these message and bring them with me when i go to work on it thanks

well reading my repair book i got on the atv and from what uve said seems like it is the kill switch circuit is there a way i can bypass this? as i want my speedo and awd to work again
