96 sportsman AWD ISSUE

I found today that only one of my front wheels is locking in on my 96 Sportsman 400 when in 4 wheel drive, what is the 1st thing I should check? I believe it is the left side locking in.

Make sure you are getting power to both hubs. Very common the wires break at this age. Next is a fluid change on the hubs. And the we go from there if we need to continue.

Remove the front cover the one on top in front of steering wheel, there will be alot of wires in there, look for 2 small connectors with 2 small wires that are grey/brown those are the front hub wires, with the key on and in gear ujsing a volt meter check for both wires to have battery voltage, if that ok, using the same volt meter unplug the wires and the connector going to the wires that go to the hubs check for ohm's, should be 25 ohms, if there is a 0 you have a broken wire, they usually brake near the wheel area, if both the ohms and voltage is good you need to check the fluid, there should be fluid at the 4o'clock position when turning the hub with the fill set screw out.
If there's fluid then you need to take apart the hub and look at the armature plates that engage the hilliard clutch.
