2002 Polaris Sportsman 4x4 hub problem

I had this posted in the new member area, but that must have not been the correct place. I am having problems with the front left hub locking up. Here is what I have done so far. First time I swaped the hillard and plate from the left to the right and it still worked. I then swaped the parts that were on the right to the left and still no action. I then tested the power at the connections under the front cover / hood and both had 12 volts. Both have almost the same exact ohm reading. I took the connection apart and switched them and still nothing on the left. I then put new actuator plates on both sides and still nothing on the left. Both hub coils seem to have about the same amount on magnetic power when switched on using the scredriver test. ever once in a while the left will kick in and pull like crazy for a few seconds then its back to nothing. Any help would be great its driving me crazy running in the snow with only 3 wheels pulling. Do I order a new hub coil, sounds like a real pain to replace. Some have mentioned that I can adjust the one I have, but not sure how.

Thanks for any help.

did you check the wires running down the strut?sounds like one is broken, look around the clamp thats on bolt that holds shock in strut, other wise its new coil time, you say it kicks in once in awhile, thats why I think its in the wiring, ,try puttin it on jack stands and runnin it, wiggle wires and gear shift er to see if you can make it come on, might also be shifter switch

Check your hiliard , with hub off turn it while it's on the axle shaft and see if the rollers ramp up real easy, i had one were the fingers of the hiliard were bent in slighltly making the rollers too tight.
