01 polaris trailblazer does nothing in reverse

I recently purchased a 95 Trailboss 250 and I need to know how the override switch works. I believe you use it when putting the quad in reverse. Am I correct. Also if that is the case why does my quad bog then stall when I put it in reverse. Actually, when I first bought it I used the override when in reverse and that seemed to be correct now it just bogs, stalls and is hard to start after that. Any ideas? thanks guys

You use the override after you put it in reverse.

Put machine in reverse.
hold down yellow button.
should be able to go full speed reverse without bogging.

If this does not work there is something else wrong.
