What weight is hub oil?

Replacing front cv axle on 2000 xplorer 400 4x4. Pulled hub cap today and found no oil present and pretty dirty in there. What weight oil is the on demand hub oil, I know it's a thin oil. I don't have a Polaris dealership near by so I'm just going to get some oil from walmart or autozone, just need to know the weight. Also, where can I get the bearings if I need to replace them.. I was told o Reilly or napa may have them.. Part number? How do I know if they're good or not? Also, I need to change tranny fluid. I can't find the dipstick.. The picture in my manual of it, I can't find it on the atv. Any ideas?

Hub oil you can use Type "F" transmission fluid. Bearing should be L44649(that's a common wheel bearing on boat trailers, etc) If you give me the inside measurement of the bearing I will make suree to give you the correct part#. The transmission dipstick should be on the trans near where the motor and transmission are together on the right hand side.

Okay perfect. I will measure inside of bearings tomorrow and will check again for dipstick but that's where the manual said too and I couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks tt425

You are welcome. I think the trans dipstick on most 1998-2001 models are yellow. If not it will be a metal stem. If you can't find it 2moro pm me your cell phone number and I will take a pic of one of the atv's im working on to show you. Thanks

I thought the hubs and diff use the same oil.. I know it's 80w-90 gear oil in rear diff. I know the oil in the hubs are a pretty thin oil and that gear oil is thick..? Just want to make sure

The hubs use Type "F" trans fluid or Polaris Hub fluid only. All other oils are to thick, I you use anything else the 4WD will not work. IDK what other fluids work. I think on Hit-The-Gas website I seen complete fluid kits. You might want to check it out.

I think the other bearing part # is L44643.

From what I read on the forum the Polaris brand hub oil is what most use for best results on the 4x4 system.

I'm going to use the type f for hubs. Just want to be sure on what weight oil is in front diff. I've heard 80w-90 gear oil, type f, obviously the Polaris demand drive fluid too
