Is cussing normal when changing oil?

I don't cuss but I'm about to start.
I'm trying to change the oil (1st time doing it myself) on my 2011 550 X2. I went to the Polaris shop and bought a 65 mm filter wrench. It fits the new filter perfectly. So I drain the oil, ready to take old filter off and the -insert curse word here- wrench doesn't fit the old filter. It almost does but won't grab it. Is it normal for the old filter to slightly change shape over time?
So any advice on how to get the old filter off?

I noticed the factory installed seems different than the replacements on mine as well.

I just used an oil filter socket from walmart and tapped it on to make sure it was snug.

Strap wrench (6 bucks at harbor freight) or channel lock pliers which will all but shred the old filter. My factory filter was installed by the hulk and it was a pain to get it off.

they changed oil filters on the 550 when it first came out, one that fits small filters from walmart will work now, buy wix filter from parts store, # 51358, no more problems, as for gettin original off? put some electrical tap on a couple sides of wrench to take up space

Thanks to everyone.
I got it off. Channel locks worked and man, was it difficult.
I used to bench press over 500 lbs. and I would like to say to whoever put my oil filter on there that tight, I salute you. You must be one beast of a man. I haven't had to strain that hard since I passed that baseball-sized kidney stone!
