2000 500 Sportsman oil weight question..
I don't have the factory book on this machine, the book I have is a aftermarket one. The book calls for 10-40 engine oil, is this incorrect?? Should it have 0-40 oil? Sorry for such a basic post and I did try the search button.

i wouldnt be surprised that the book says 10-40 given the machines age....the 0-40 PS4+ is claimed by polaris to be able to run in all polaris 4-stroke machines

Owner's manual calls for 0W-40 Sythetic. Idaho temperatures (especially winter) may not be ideal to run 10W-40 in. For all the more oil it takes to change, I run Mobile 1 0W40 sythetic in all three of my Sportsman.
