New CDI unit and machine now not running right

I ordered a new CDI box because I could no longer use the kill switch or key to shut the motor down. I had just been using the ground wire off of the old CDI unit that plugs into the "triplet ground" (speedometer, kill switch, and i think key) and grounding it to the frame to kill the motor. I decided to replace the unit so everything would function correctly. However now that everything is plugged back up the way it should the motor cranks fine, will shut off with kill switch and key but when you rev the motor past idle it sputters, backfires, and then shuts off. I am lost! The switch that controls lights, kill, start and override is new and was installed by Polaris tech. Please somebody tell me what I need to do. Coming off of the coil above the CDI is a series of brown wires. One has been cut by the previous owner. I have no idea what this goes to or if this has anything to do with my problem. I bought the atv a few weeks ago and decided to put some time and money into it to get it right. Any help is greatly appreciated.

all brown wires are grounds, can try splicing it to another brown wire, unplug black wire from cdi to speed limiter and see if it runs right, if it does , tape wire up and dont worry about it, you wont have to push overide for power in reversebut you will have to push it for awd in reverse

Are you saying to splice the black wire into one of the browns? When I unplug the black from the "triplet ground" I lose the ability to shut the engine off through switch and ignition key. I will have to ground it or run a toggle.

no, you said one of the brown wires was cut or broke, splice it into other brown wire, all brown wires are grounds on polaris, when you un-hook black wire from speed limiter, that just eliminates speed limiter, should still shutoff with key, something else is wrong
