96 Polaris Sportsman ft hub

Evenin fellas,
Does anyone have the actual manual instructions for the torque on the ft hub nut on this machine? This is the older unit with the lock nut, not the castle nut with a cotter pin. Ive seen a lot of posts but all are for the later machines with the castle nut.
Thanks

1st Stage 165 in. lb. (tighten to get everything tight)
2nd Stage 124 in. lbs. (loosen and re-tighten to this spec.)

Though be warned I did this as well and need to continuously monitor the nut as I went hunting one day and had the nut come completely off, even pulling off the cir-clip and thus the axle pulled out from the wheel, then I had to limp home and thankfully I only ripped the bottom cv joint boot

Still not sure how a reverse thread nut loosened itself enough going in forward gear to pull axle completely apart

Yes Im sure that is why they went to the castle nut, and was probably the right thing to do. First, I use a new lock not, secondly put a dot of locktite on the nut. Thanks for your help on the spec.

Holy cow, got this whole thing back together (the right way) all new bearings, bearing races, sseals and even seal sleeve (over coil) got the bearings torqued in as they should be..and this thing actually still feels loose..I mean when Its jacked up with the weight off of the ground, the tire still has play.(just like a car when the front bearings are loose) you know..grabbing on top and bottom of tire and wiggle in and out. I cant even imagine how that could be with 126 inch pounds of torque on that nut. Any ideas? I didnt see any excessive wear on the shaft?? Totally confused at this point. Any ideas?

Thanks for the thought, I should have specified, The ball joint is tight, The looseness is in the hub/strut somewhere

Thanks
