2007 hawkeye clutch problem
I have the "hawkeye clutch noise". I posted a few days ago and got some very much appreciated help. I Pulled the cover and the drive & driven clutch.
Other than a lot of what looked like powdered graphite(?), everything looked OK. The bearing in the cover felt cheap, but turned smoothly. I cranked the engine, and the noise is still there(of course). Put a little pressure on the shaft and it sounds like a rock crusher in the case. I can find absolutely no information on the correct way to get to the "engine clutch" as it is sometimes called. I'm sure the ball bearing there is shot. Hope that's all. By the way, what is the "clutch one way" and it's function?
I really can't afford to have the dealer fix it, and besides, I've always done my own repairs and maintenance on all my equipment/vehicles. I've seen the schematics, but I'd like to get some pointers on how to go about replacing whatever I find defective. Surely I don't have to split the case?
Thanks.
