predator 500 question

I just recently purchased a predator 500.It starts and idles but when you try to accelerate it bogs and backfires out exhaust. I cleaned carb and set everything back to specs acording to a clymer manual I purchased but it did not seem to change anything.I can change the air screw in or out and doesnt change anything.does anyone have any ideas or have they experienced the same problem

thanks Nathan

I was having the same problem. My Predator sat for about 4 months and then would start and idle all day long but would bog and backfire. The first time cleaning the carb I used brake cleaner and it left a film behind, cleaning it a second time with carb cleaner fixed the problem. I also installed a new plug and it is running like a champ now.

air filter nice and clean? if everything is adjusted in the carb just right, and like said before, you used carb cleaner and only carb cleaner, i have seen airfilters that were dirty enough the machine couldnt breath well enough, too rich, bogging down, backfiring, just like what you have

I have seen that too blueline15.A dirty air filter can do that. You can also check the boot fitting between the carb and air filter box and make sure it is tight.Did you clean the jets good when you cleaned the carb?
