01 xplorer 400 2 stroke smoking problems

I have a 2001 xplorer 400 2 stroke im trying to get back running. I had a new top end put in motor, plus i cleaned carb and all jets are clean and atv starts right up. Only problem is it smokes very bad and fouls at least one plug a day. I assume its getting to much oil but not sure. Runs good just fouls plugs, can any one help?

Your best bet is to do away with the oil injection. If you dont mind mixing your gas. You can mix it with some of the smokeless oils and pick up power also. I use the amzoil smokeless mixed at 75 to 1 with no smoke.

They do smoke more until they get warmed up,usually polaris reccomends 40 to 1 upon breakin(about 2 tanks worth) then 50 to 1 . you may want to check to see if the oil pump is set correctly,at idle the lines on the pump and body should line up.
Check counterbalancer oil
Synthetic oils will smoke less.

Thanks

Thanks for the help. I am probably going to start mixing gas my self due to the machine is getting up there in age. What is the purpose of the counter balancer on this machine?

The counter balance is used to balance the crank . It keeps the engine from vibrating and it also runs the waterpump and oil injection pump.
