Question about sportsman low beam bulb replacement

I have a 1999 sportsman 500. The stock low beam bulb is part #4030059 (27 watt).
Will the higher watt #4030048 37 watt bulb work in it's place? Also, if it will work, why is the lower 27 watt bulb cost more than the 37 watt bulb?

I found this bulb I think will work. you just have to pull the old bulb out of the holder and replace with this one. it also comes in 55 watt and 27 watt. do a searh for this bulb----Whelen H35W12V Halogen Bulb. and it only cost $6.00 !!!!!

I like wilb67 's answer. My 99 Sportsman 500 regularly burns out both of the low beam bulbs and I am looking for options. Tired of spending $50 to replace them every year I'll check out Whelen's bulbs. Any thought on the HID lights?

I am also considering replacing the entire low beam assemblies with a set of lights from an auto supply store. Replacement bulbs are available at any Wal Mart for $6. I just don't know if the electrical system will handle the change.
