My Polaris cranks up and runs perfectly for an hour or two and with no warning it'll die. Usually after 10 - 15 minutes it'll crank up and run fine for another 1/2 - 1 hour then die again. Has anyone had similar problems? I've been told it could be trash in an injector - does anyone know if that sounds possible?
My 06 800 Sportsman does the same thing! Runs great all day while your riding till you stop to talk or look at a map and it spudders and quits! Wait 15-20 mins and it fires up and runs fine till you stop again! I've heard boiling the fuel, not enough heat shield tape on the bottom of the tank causing fuel to boil, fuel pump breaking down, fuel injectors plugged up or sticking, ECU needs reprogramming! Like come on, what the heck is this already! My Dealer has contacted Polaris and they say they have not heard of this problem! HELP with my frustration! My bike only had 390 miles on it 4 months ago and now has about 800 miles! It's still not broke in yet! It happens at different times too, could ride for a hour one time and four hours the next, and fifteen mins the next!
I have a 06 Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI and it has being doing the same exact thing (for the past 3 years) as Scott's machine. I have replaced 2 fuel pumps, taken it to a Polaris dealer, and still it is not running properly. Has anyone found any solutions?

Went through this also, 06 800. buy a fuel pump pressure tester and check regulator. I went through the aftermarket fuel pumps wasted 150$ and finally bought a new fuel tank no more problem. When your 800 runs low on fuel the fuel pump and reg are not being cooled by the fuel so after time the burn out. I have also wrapped my whole exhaust in header wrap big difference. Hope this helps.
